About the Counterstrain Academy

Mission Statement

The Counterstrain Academy began in 2005 as a one-on-one mentoring of new, passionate counterstrain practitioners. It was formalized in 2011 as the program began to attract multiple practitioners and regional recognition as an authority in Counterstrain Continuing Education. In 2014 Timothy Hodges, the founder of the Counterstrain Academy, partnered with Brian Tuckey and officially established the entity as an S-Corp. It has grown considerably over the last 10 years. Academy Mastery Programs are now run in several locations throughout the country, with plans to expand to the East coast in the Fall of 2016.

The Academy employs high-level fascial counterstrain practitioners that have completed the entire curriculum and demonstrated professional excellence in mastering both the clinical application of the technique and their ability to teach and impart mastery to others. Part of their training includes completing the entire program a second time as a TA (course audit) and demonstrating their teaching prowess in the three key areas of lecture, technique demonstration and one-on-one mentoring of students. In addition, they are required to co-teach with the Director of the academy, Tim Hodges, until it is apparent that their teaching capability and confidence have reached high levels of proficiency.

Our mission is to empower the next generation of Counterstrain practitioners with confidence, competence and compassion. It is our goal for all of the participants enrolled in our program to attain true mastery of this amazing, life-altering technique and to be able to share it with as many people in need as possible.
